Introduction to NBT 11 ภาคอีสาน
สทท.ขอนแก่น เป็นสถานีวิทยุโทรทัศน์แห่งแรกในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ จัดตั้งขึ้นตามแผนพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจและสังคมแห่งชาติฉบับที่ 1 โดยจอมพลสฤษดิ์ ธนะรัชต์ นายกรัฐมนตรี ในขณะนั้นมีเป้าหมายจะให้ขอนแก่นเป็นศูนย์กลางพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจ สังคม การศึกษา การคมนาคมของภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ และต้องการใช้สื่อวิทยุกระจายเสียงและวิทยุโทรทัศน์ในการประชาสัมพันธ์เผยแพร่ข้อมูลข่าวสาร การปฏิบัติการจิตวิทยาเพื่อความมั่นคงของชาติ และสร้างความเข้าใจอันดีต่อประชาชนในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ โดยในปี 2502 คณะรัฐมนตรีมีมติให้ กรมประชาสัมพันธ์ขยายบริการสื่อวิทยุกระจายเสียงและวิทยุโทรทัศน์ไปสู่ภูมิภาคต่าง ๆ ของประเทศ สทท.ขอนแก่น จึงได้จัดตั้งขึ้นพร้อมกับสำนักประชาสัมพันธ์เขต 1 ในวันที่ 6 พฤศจิกายน 2503
